Our Program
Who qualifies for Meals?
The criteria for service is an inability to shop or cook for oneself. The service may be long term as for the
frail elderly and/or disabled or short term for those who are convalescing.
When are Meals delivered?
Meals are prepared in the Laird Hall kitchen at Murrysville First Presbyterian Church; two meals a day (one hot and one cold)
are delivered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
How much does it cost?
Our program asks for a donation to help defray the cost of the food. The
suggested donation is $12.00 per week.
How does the program work?
The success of Meals On Wheels depends largely upon many dedicated volunteers who "Keep The Wheels Rolling".
Volunteers can be:
- Cooks
- Drivers
- Visitors
- Kitchen Helpers
- Buyers
- Steering Committee Members
Volunteers do much more than prepare and deliver meals. Daily, they bring a cheerful greeting, check on a
person's well-being and handle emergencies when necessary.
Commitment can range from several hours per week to 2-4 hours per month.
